How Do You Treat Eczema?
The first step is to see a doctor or an esthetician to be sure that what you
have is, in fact, eczema. A doctor may prescribe medication and an
esthetician may
suggest special skin care products or
ultraviolet (UV) light
treatment. Once your rash(es) have been correctly identified, then there are
a few things you can do.
Dry skin will agitate eczema so start by moisturizing several times a day. This
will not cure you of eczema (there is no known cure), but it will relieve some
of the symptoms that go along with it and can even eliminate a mild eczema rash.
Next, do everything you can to avoid scratching your skin. This will only worsen
your discomfort. Try bathing in lukewarm water for only a few minutes at a time,
and then applying a topical antibiotic and moisturizer immediately following.
Like all skin conditions, keep a daily journal to compare your outbreaks with
your diet, stress levels, weather, hormones, etc. Once you identify the triggers
that cause your eczema to flare, you can then modify your routine and diet.
