Thursday skin facts – Winter’s wrath on dry skin
December 18th, 2008
Dry skin is part genetics, part hydration levels, and definitely a result of the weather-particularly winter weather.
If the chill has got your skin looking ashy and feeling scaly, consider these skin facts.
- There may be more moisture in your skin than in the air, which is why moisture is evaporating from your skin. Try a humidifier and lowering your thermostat to even out moisture levels in the air at home.
- Baths, long showers, and hot showers pull all the oil from your skin. Try short, cool showers instead.
- Your skin can only absorb so much product at one time. Apply a bit of moisturizer throughout the day. I’ve gotten the best results from shea butter.
