Why over sized sunglasses are good for your skin

over sized sunglasses

It’s no secret that the sun is our skin’s worst enemy. Too much exposure causes wrinkles and discoloration, not to mention increasing our chances of skin cancer. Sun block, hats, and limited exposure to the sun is important, but even more important to the skin is sunglasses.

Over sized sunglasses do three things. First, they protect the retina of our eyes from sun damage. Second, they prevent you from squinting. Too much squinting, it should be no surprise, can cause wrinkling, i.e. crow’s feet and other fine lines around the eye. Third, over sized sunglasses will keep the oh-so sensitive skin around your eyes protected from sun damage that may cause discoloration or melasma.

The skin around the eyes is particularly sensitive because it is ten times thinner than the rest of the skin. Because of blinking and facial expressions this skin is stretched and moved more frequently than other sections of our skin too. So, sunglasses in addition to eye cream/sun block combo will aid in keeping your skin fit and young looking.
