Skin care for your underarms

April 5th, 2009

The underarms, while hidden from the rest of the world, are fairly sensitive and require their own skin care treatments; especially for those of you with itchy and bumpy skin under your arms.

Here are five tips to fitter underarm skin.

1 – Don’t shave with soap. This can be drying and irritate the skin. Use a moisturizing shaving gel like Philosophy Razor Sharp. A little goes a long way and it will also help smooth those bumps.

2 – Let a little hair grow. It’s not necessary to shave every day. Give your skin and your hair follicles some room to breath by skipping a few days here and there.

3 – A salt scrub will help shake away dead skin, remove excess dirt and oils, and open up the pores. Exfoliating once or twice a week is enough to smooth underarm skin. Salt also has healing properties, which will help heal cuts from shaving.

4 – Use fragrance free soaps and deodorant. The chemicals used to create fragrances can be drying and irritate sensitive skin.

5 – Use sharp razors. A dull razor can cut and leave your skin bumpy. Go sharp and avoid razor burn.
